What's Involved
Species identification
German and Oriental cockroaches behave differently and need different treatment. German cockroaches breed indoors year-round in warm kitchens; Oriental cockroaches come in from drains and cellars. We identify which you have before treating anything.
Gel bait and residual treatment
We apply insecticidal gel directly to harbourage points behind appliances, under units and along pipework, backed by a residual spray on runs and entry points.
Drain and void inspection
Oriental cockroaches almost always trace back to a drain, gully or service void. We find the route in and seal it, otherwise the problem returns.
Follow-up visits
Cockroach eggs are protected inside an ootheca and survive the first treatment. We return to treat the newly hatched nymphs before they reach breeding age.
Signs You Have a Problem
- Droppings. Small dark specks resembling ground pepper along skirting boards, inside cupboards and behind appliances.
- A musty, oily smell. Established infestations give off a distinctive sweet, musty odour that gets stronger as numbers grow.
- Egg cases. Dark brown capsules roughly 8mm long, often glued into cracks near a heat source.
- Sightings in daylight. Cockroaches are nocturnal. Seeing one during the day usually means the harbourage is overcrowded and the population is well established.

How long does it take to get rid of cockroaches?
Most infestations clear within two to four weeks across two or three visits. The timeline is driven by the egg cycle: eggs are protected from insecticide, so we need to treat the nymphs after they hatch.
Do I need to empty my kitchen before treatment?
Not entirely. We will ask you to clear the areas we need to reach, typically behind and under appliances, and to cover or remove exposed food. We will tell you exactly what is needed when we book.
Are cockroaches a health risk?
Yes. They walk through drains and waste before walking across food surfaces, and are associated with salmonella, gastroenteritis and dysentery. They are also a significant asthma and allergy trigger in children.
